The SMK Helmets story spans over 50 years, from humble beginnings in a small garage in India to the forefront of motorcycle helmet manufacturing. As a global leader in the industry, we are committed to producing the world’s safest, most comfortable, and stylish helmets.

All of our high-quality motorcycle helmets are meticulously designed, tested, and manufactured in-house at our state-of-the-art facilities. Our team of nearly 3,000 skilled employees work together to ensure that each helmet is crafted with precision and expertise in our state-of-the-art safety testing lab.

SMK Helmets is a premium helmets line offered by the parent company STUDDS Accessories Ltd.

The letters “SMK” are representative of our founders, Sidhartha and Madhu Khurana, both of whom are aeronautical engineers by education. Studds, and by extension SMK Helmets, are deeply rooted in family values. Madhu started STUDDS with his brother in 1972 out of a small home garage in India. It had humble beginnings – for the first helmet ever made, the paint was dried in the family oven, the internal helmet lining was shaped and hand stitched by Madhu’s wife, Chand. Years of of hard work, patience and persistence followed, which led to where we are today – one of the largest manufacturers in the world with helmets being sold to riders in 55+ countries.

The SMK Concept

In 2015, STUDDS introduced the premium line of SMK Helmets to meet the demands of international customers. This new brand brings together the renowned innovation of STUDDS, the elegance of Italian design, advanced safety technologies, and cutting-edge materials to set a new standard for top-tier motorcycle helmets.

Today STUDDS manufacturers approximately 14 million helmets annually across both brands using the most advanced technology and rigorous safety testing methods. Our lab is widely acclaimed as a leading safety testing facility with multiple certifications, including ECE (Economic Commission of Europe) and DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation).

Quality Assurance

More than just testing and inspection protocols, quality assurance is infused in everything we do; and in doing everything in-house. From initial design concepts to final packaging and delivery, we are the only helmet manufacturer in the world to keep the complete cycle of production under our control.

Certified In-House Testing & Proving Laboratories

The SMK helmet manufacturing facilities are the only ones in the industry with in-house laboratories that are certified to meet ECE (UN Regulation No. 22) and DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) safety standards.

The technology in each of the four integrated SMK production facilities is constantly reviewed, analyzed and updated.
